PRODUCTION OF TILES, EXPANDED CLAY AND BRICKS
In this industrial sector, where large numbers of small units need simple and effective flue gas treatment systems, the NEUTREC^® process technology enables them to respect local regulations. At the same time, the purification residues can be recycled in the kiln in addition to the raw materials, so as to reduce the quantity of products having to be tipped on landfill sites.

In tile manufacturing (terracotta tiles, bricks and floor tiles) the combustion gas purification system needs to reflect:

• the type of fuel used. For example, heavy fuel oil produces large quantities of sulphur dioxide (SO₂),

• the type of raw materials used; there are several different types of clay: red clay, white clay with a high carbonate content, clay containing marine sediments…

The main acid pollutants are therefore hydrochloric acid (HCl), hydrofluoric acid (HF) and sulphur dioxide (SO₂).

Performance of sodium bicarbonate:
With NEUTREC^® technology, local standards for acid pollutants are respected. Experience has also shown bicarbonate to be demonstrably more effective than the action of the limestone injected into the kiln.
